Hi there,
My name's Andrew Garrett. I'm from Sydney, Australia (GMT+10), and have been a developer since October 2006. I've done quite a few significant changes to the MediaWiki core software, including, most significantly:
- Cascading and expiring protection — allowing everything (including included pages and images) on a page to be protected, as opposed to just the page itself. Additionally, allowing pages to be protected with an expiry date.
- Retroactive autoblocking — automatically looking up a users' last-used IP address, and autoblocking it, when a user is blocked.
As well as some custom solutions designed to work with the MediaWiki software, including:
- Creating "Werdnabot", a bot that made over 30,000 edits to the English Wikipedia in archiving and indexing old discussions, including very high-traffic pages.
To see a sample of some of my best work, please feel free to view my own website at http://www.devanywhere.com, which is entirely my own work.
I'm still at school, and so I do have somewhat limited time. However, I should be available for at least 3-6 hours per week to work on projects, with more time allotable if necessary. I will work by the hour, or per-job based on an hourly rate and estimated time to complete the job. My hourly rate will be negotiated when I am engaged to perform work. I will typically work on single freelance jobs, however I will support any code that I do write for a reasonable period after the work has been done.
I can be contacted by email at firstname at devanywhere.com, at my user talk page, or by the Email facility on WikiHR.
